Dubbed the little band with the big band sound, The Music Men band has been playing nearly 50 years now in clubs and venues here in Central Illinois and the St Louis area. All members of the band have been from the general area of central and south central Illinois and the metro St. Louis area. The music consists of the great standards of the 40s and 50s, swing, latin, waltzes, polkas, jazz, Dixieland, some 50s and 60s rock 'n roll, and a few more modern era songs destined to become classics. The quartet's current lineup features Scott Fischer (from Staunton) on drums and vocals, Bob Boehmke (from Springfield) on Cordovox (keyboard and bass) , Chuck Cunningham (from Peoria) on trumpet, and Gary Moore (from Nokomis) on tenor sax, clarinet, and flute.
THAT'S ALL FOLKS!
The band's long, long run finally came to an end on New Year's Eve 2015. The Music Men band is no longer booking regular dates. However, provided all the musicians are available, we are still considering playing special dates and parties.
We have already scheduled playing at Italian-American Days in Benld, Illinois on May 29, 2016, and there may be a few other dates that come up now and then. The band's website will remain, so please check back.
A big thank you to everyone who has made this band so successful through all the years, especially the "fans".
Gary Moore plans to keep his band playing. Of course, Scott plays drums for Gary, so you'll still be able to catch them.
Sunday, May 29, 2016. 11:00AM-2:00PM
City Park, Benld, Illinois.
Those of you who have been there in years passed know that it is an outdoor festival. There is a covered floor and stage. There are picnic tables, but it is suggested that you bring lawn chairs. Free pasta given out at 11:30AM. Beer, wine, and other Italian foods available. The band is billed as The Bagna Cauda Combo, so don't be alarmed if you see that!
